HABITS THAT ARE MESSING UP YOUR METABOLISM
Metabolism basically is how your body burns calories inside your cells to generate energy. There are many things that contribute to a slower metabolism. Here might be some mistakes you are making:
1. NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER
Dehydration leads to a slower metabolism plus decreased energy.
2. CRASH DIETS OR SKIPPING MEALS
Your body goes into starvation mode temporarily, which decreases your metabolism and you will burn calories at a slower rate. You will become weak and lethargic as well, also leading us to poor decisions. Most of that weight lost is from muscle.
3. NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP
Sleep affects hormones that regulate appetite and stress. When your hormones are imbalanced, it messes with your metabolism.
4. NOT EATING ENOUGH PROTEIN
And eating too much fat. When you eat protein, your body burns more calories to digest it opposed to carbs and fat.
5. NOT ENOUGH EXERCISE
Incorporating weight training and aerobic both increase metabolism. The more muscle you have, the higher the metabolism.
6. TOO MUCH PROCESSED FOOD
They contain a lot of sugar, salt, and additives, along with other hormones that interfere with good fat burning hormones. Lipase, a fat burning enzyme is suppressed when blood sugar levels spike
7. NOT ENOUGH FISH AND OMEGA 3’S
A Study at the University of West Ontario showed that fish oil increased levels of fat burning enzymes and decreased levels of fat storage enzymes in the body.
Fish and /or fish oil supplements dramatically boosted metabolism about 400 calories a day!
